When my dog Jack passed away two years ago I was lost. If you have shared your soul with a dog and been the lucky recipient of their unconditional love, then nothing else needs to be said - you understand. My therapy for dealing with Jack's loss was to pick up my oil pastels and start painting. There was no planning, no base sketch, I just started painting and after a few days I looked down and there was Jack. He now occupies a prominent spot on our mantel where my wife and I can see him every day.
We now have a new member of our family - "Jake" Pasco . He is 7 months old and still all puppy. I know Jack is looking down and smiling as he watches us chase Jake all over the house and yard.
I have always turned down commission work, preferring instead to go where my thoughts take me when working on a piece of art. However, when dealing with Jack's passing I had a change of heart - I realized that I am not the only person on earth who loves his dog and others may appreciate a memento to honor their best friend.
